Also chipin still wont load for me, I asked my friend to try it as well, since he has different ISP, no luck. Looks like they have blocked the whole Indian subcontinent for some reason.

That is very bizarre and very annoying.  I think it's a good enough reason to use a different similar service in future.

That said, ChipIn is really just a think frontend to PayPal, isn't it?  You should still be able to transfer money directly into the PayPal account that sits behind our ChipIn setup, I think.

I'm trying to donate through ChipIn, but it appears there is some error. Perhaps it's only temporary. I will try again another time.

Would it be beneficial to have a donate button on the front page? The only mention I saw was through the tweets, which is a bit hidden and will also disappear when more tweets come.

I am still unable to donate. What could the problem be?

The problem may be due to the ChipIn "account" or whatever only being set up to last until, I think, Jan 2nd or something?  Since that date has passed you may need to try a direct PayPal transfer.

It looks like it ended. I'm trying to see if I can restart it or not.

I now donated $50. The widget on the first post of this thread now says $50. If the first fundraiser generated $185, then that leaves us with a total of $235. Is there an easier way for us to know the total? What if after every donation we update some spreadsheet that produces a graph and show that somewhere?

Also, is there a better way to ask for donations besides having to dig through the forums to find the donate thread? Perhaps a link on the front page. I think we would then have a better chance at receiving more donations.

Here is a tracking spreadsheet that I came up with.

I will add it to the first post if everyone thinks that it is okay.

Also, is it possible to put the ChipIn widget on the front page?

It should certainly be possible, but only Rizwan has the required access to do it.

I can see it.  I wonder if we should have a link to a page in the Wiki explaining what it is we're collecting for?

^^ That sounds like a great idea. Also we should inform them that this is a temporary account you are donating to and you dont need to worry.

I can see it. The bottom is getting cut off a little bit, but I don't think that is a problem.

If you want to you can put this hyperlink under it for those who can't see the flash widget:

One thing I have noticed is that if somebody cant see the widget, they wont be able to open that link as well. It just doesn't load.
