![CSTART has very limited resources, in a lot of senses: active community members, administrative infrastructure, server space and money. Until such time as this changes, CSTART is adopting a conservative approach to project formation: we don't want to have too many things going on at once. ![Subject to the usual issues of making sure we wait until we have enough people and/or little enough other active projects to make sure we can handle it (I don't expect this to happen any time soon, I'm just putting the idea "down on paper"), I would love to see CSTART embark on some balloon based projects. ... gopost](/wp-content/plugins/simple-forum/styles/icons/default/gopost.png) |

![Hopefully brmj can provide more information. He and I have started to take a look at openspacemovement.org. I feel that it is still a bit unorganized and not yet ready, but does show promise. There is a calendar there, though, that is showing that Cloudlab has bi-weekly meetings on irc. Perhaps more... gopost](/wp-content/plugins/simple-forum/styles/icons/default/gopost.png) |

![Now that the most pressing of our new projects have names, in addition to finding people to act as leaders for them we need to decide on some structure and terminology.
On the demo project pages, we've been referring to things like what is now called Chimera as "projects", and we've had "stages" for... gopost](/wp-content/plugins/simple-forum/styles/icons/default/gopost.png) |

This is now figured out. On both occasions, the email that contained the password was considered automatically as spam.
This happened to me as well. I received a PM notification email and gmail flagged it as spam. gopost](/wp-content/plugins/simple-forum/styles/icons/default/gopost.png) |

![The naming competition is now over, and it only makes some sense that a logo competition should follow it.
I wanted to know what people thought of an approach where we provided (and by we, in effect I mean Rizwan) a kind of "frame" for the logos, to provide some degree of consistency. I've been particularly... gopost](/wp-content/plugins/simple-forum/styles/icons/default/gopost.png) |

![VLBI is a technique used in radio astronomy which involves positioning several small (relatively speaking) radio telescopes over a wide area - spanning a continent or even several - and combining received signals from all of them, using clever algorithms, and emulating a single extremely large telescope... gopost](/wp-content/plugins/simple-forum/styles/icons/default/gopost.png) |

![Thanks for posting that link, Sci! Very intersting and encouraging to see other communities considering roughly similar ideas to ours. I don't really at the moment know enough about VLBI to say much more about how feasible this is, but if anybody with more knowledge wants to do the research and/or... gopost](/wp-content/plugins/simple-forum/styles/icons/default/gopost.png) |

![I'm somewhat abusing this forum, in that I'm not proposing anything entirely new, project wise, but this seems like the best place to put it. This post is mainly aimed at the CSTART directors for when they get back from their various real life obligations, but feedback from the wealth of newcomers... gopost](/wp-content/plugins/simple-forum/styles/icons/default/gopost.png) |

They should really be viewed as missions of increasing difficultly that bring increased knowledge and respect to CSTART as a whole. This distinction is small, but important in my opinion.
I think that this is the underlying philosophy of everything. It would be a waste of... gopost](/wp-content/plugins/simple-forum/styles/icons/default/gopost.png) |

![Discussions on the proposal for CSTART to "adopt" the Reddit CubeSat project seem to have stalled somewhat. Let's see if we can get the ball rolling again:
First things first, is everybody okay with this? I am talking mostly to the Acting Directors, but am happy to hear objections from anyway. ... gopost](/wp-content/plugins/simple-forum/styles/icons/default/gopost.png) |

![I suppose I don't really see any harm in doing so as long as they run it by themselves. Basically our only interaction would be maintaining the CSTART infrastructure for them (unless we choose to become involved obviously). We would want to maintain a working knowledge of what they are doing so that... gopost](/wp-content/plugins/simple-forum/styles/icons/default/gopost.png) |
