![Well it seems Luke has locked the only thread on here so let me make one people can comment on.
I think the general idea so far is a semi pressurized cabin at about 0.7 atm utilizing a carbon scrubber/oxygen injection system that I'd outlined previously.
As far as including plants? I think... gopost](/wp-content/plugins/simple-forum/styles/icons/default/gopost.png) |

![You're welcome! As part of a year-long work project last year I did a research report on how humans life might be sustained on Mars, I guess the application is pretty similar with spacecraft.
Yes, agreed, fractal arrangement of the algae plates would increase the functional area per unit volume greatly.... gopost](/wp-content/plugins/simple-forum/styles/icons/default/gopost.png) |

![Some more ideas with regards to using a standard rebreather for life support. In case you can't tell, I'm very keen on this idea! It seems to me to best implement our ideal of keeping things cheap and simple by using off-the-shelf hardware wherever we can.
What if we had the astronaut nominally... gopost](/wp-content/plugins/simple-forum/styles/icons/default/gopost.png) |

![Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. For what it's worth, I don't really know anything about this sort of technology, with regards to how complex things are, or what they cost. My prime motivation is to make sure we don't reinvent wheels that already exist. Diving rebreathers have been worked... gopost](/wp-content/plugins/simple-forum/styles/icons/default/gopost.png) |

![Hello. I haven't been writing much, because I had no time, but I was tasting some dried foods and thinking about how would it be organized.
I came out with quite good idea when i was watching ISS meals time. They had many problems with eating. Messy and non stimulating.
I would propose that food... gopost](/wp-content/plugins/simple-forum/styles/icons/default/gopost.png) |

![Hello and thank you.
One person it is. It is just a metter of quantities.
To the crumbs, I can try to make toasts without crumbing, or I can exchange it with something else. I'll give it a think.
I am ready to give more details, when required.
Cheers

![Does anyone here know much about diving rebreathers? I find the idea of using one of these as part of our life support system extremely appealing, for a lot of obvious reasons. I'm just wondering if we can make it work with our design. Obviously rebreaters are designed to be used... gopost](/wp-content/plugins/simple-forum/styles/icons/default/gopost.png) |

![Unfortunately, I suspect that Tycho Brahe just uses bottles of pressurized gas, since it won't be up for long, though I could easilly be wrong. However, Peter Madsen of CS has built at least three submarines. I don't know if they just use a snorkal for air, or if they have a true life support... gopost](/wp-content/plugins/simple-forum/styles/icons/default/gopost.png) |

![I have found this on WIKIPEDIA, it is a handbook for APOLLO lunar module.
Hope it helps.

![I've had this manual on my computer for a while now and it is very interesting to read. I also have the Apollo manuals, I should upload them to DropBox. The information is useful from a general standpoint of how stuff is arranged. gopost](/wp-content/plugins/simple-forum/styles/icons/default/gopost.png) |

![I'm trying to clarify my understanding of what needs to be onboard the CM to facilitate 24 hours of breathable atmosphere for the astronaut, I'm going to run through how I think it works here, if anybody can point out anything I've missed, I'd appreciate.

![I don't think that it will actually take too much nitrogen to pressurize the cabin. The initial launch configuration can just contain sea level air which can provide the base atmosphere until the first depressurization. During the cruse out the nitrogen supply can be used to maintain pressure should... gopost](/wp-content/plugins/simple-forum/styles/icons/default/gopost.png) |

![So far we have done essentially zero work on suit design. We have talked briefly about the pros and cons of designing our own vs buying Soviet surplus, but that is about it.
I think this might be an area where we can profitably ally ourselves with the Open Luna Foundation, who have actually done... gopost](/wp-content/plugins/simple-forum/styles/icons/default/gopost.png) |

![I don't think so, I am not sure that the prototypes they used in the simulations are actually up to that task. I think they are more aimed at estimating/testing things like size and mass of life support backpacks, visibility through helmets and the tendency of visors to fog up, dexterity achievable... gopost](/wp-content/plugins/simple-forum/styles/icons/default/gopost.png) |
