[edit] Summary
Note: GPS will not work the entire flight. Civillian GPS receivers built in the US have to stop working once certain criteria are met; namely, if you go too fast and too high at the same time. This is to stop the rest of the world creating GPS-guided ICBMs.
[edit] Features
- determine position
- determine velocity
- known reliability
- known accuracy
- known precision
- has to work reliably at altitudes up to 100km
[edit] Requirements
to be done.
[edit] Available Solutions
[edit] More info
- Apparently, usual commercial GPS recievers stop to work above a certain altitude for legal reasons. (cf. "Discussion of GPS modules on SparkFun forums")
- List of GPS receivers with higher than usual altitude cut-offs
- Accuracy, precision and reliability (keeping track of satellites) is not known for higher altitudes.
