CLLARE Reliable Data Storage System

The CLLARE Reliable Data Storage System (RDSS) is used to store all voice and video, sensor and telemetry recordings for the duration of the CLLARE mission.

The number one design requirement of the RDSS is reliability.

Some sort of RAID1 array seems like a logical choice.

Solid state hard drives will probably fare better in space than mechanical hard drives. These are expensive now but by the time we are ready to launch prices should be acceptable.

In addition to being reliable against disk failures the RDSS should also be physically reliable, like an aircraft Black Box. If something goes wrong during reentry and the RDSS is exposed to high temperatures and/or severe mechanical stress/shock, we should still be able to recover data.
