I'm an Aerospace Major.  Mainly I'm just curious right now, but I may get involved later, this is kind of intriguing. The biggest question I have right now is on what the plan is for money, because I see that as a rather large concern. Are there hopes for sponsorship, and if so what are the laws pertaining to that? and then a whole bunch of other things come into play from there.

From our FAQ:

How will CSTART be funded?

We expect our initial funding to come from small individual or corporate donations and from the sale of merchandise like tshirts and mugs (we are working on making these available soon). Once the team is more established and we have more solid plans, we hope to be able to secure additional funding through larger corporation donations and sponsorship deals. As CSTART acquires actual launch capabilities, we hope to begin selling services such as launching low mass satellites into low earth orbit, and eventually work our way up to selling suborbital and orbital “joyrides” to space tourists. All revenue generated from these sales will be directed toward research and development for future projects.

Main CLLARE workgroups: Mission Planning, Navigation and Guidance. I do maths, physics, C, Python and Java.

Welcome, it is great to have you with us.

Funding is definitely a concern for us and is something that we will need to actively pursue. Our fundraising work group is just as important as any of the engineering work groups because without money the large parts of the project will fall flat on their face.

Corporate sponsorship is likely to be our largest source of income but we need to make a name for ourselves before they will throw much money our way. Our OHKLA project is intended to be something to grab headlines and attract sponsors.

Main Workgroups: Propulsion & Spacecraft Engineering

Also we will be actively pursuing people to donate small amounts. Right now, we are in the process of setting up as an 501(c)(3) organisation so that all the donations are tax deductible.
