Hey there,

I found out about CSTART today while browsing reddit, and I'm just blown away.  I'd love to be able to help any way that I can.

In terms of skills:

  •  I absolutely love to plan things so I could be of use for organizational tasks
  •  I'm a decent writer and editor (just finished a BA in History)
  •  I've spent 4 years working in customer service, so I'm also pretty good at dealing with people and resolving conflicts

Admittedly I'm not much for math and science, but I see you're looking for contributors with various skills.  So, here I am.

Let me know if I can help!

Welcome!  We certainly are looking for people from all walks of life.  Organization is something we have struggled with in the past and are currently trying to get some more solid frameworks in place for.  Wiki pages and forum threads relevant to this part of our recent efforts are:

Any input you had on these issues (post in the appropriate forum threads!) would be a great help.

People who can write and proofread documents are a great help too.  Especially people who do are intelligent/educated but not have a strong maths/science background, because they are likely to be our best indication of how accessible documents written by technical people are to the general public.

Perhaps the most active stuff going on right now in the area of writing is our attempt to get some basic Press Kit documents together for our two projects.  The beginnings of the text for the OHKLA Press Kit are up in the Wiki, and comments on how it is written/how accessible it is would be appreciated (the Press Kits are supposed to be very accessibly written and address the most immediate questions the general public will have about a project.  There's a Wiki page for the CLLARE Press Kit but it's in a much more embryonic stage just now.

If you find anything else going on around the place that you'd like to help with as well, do not hesitate to ask about it!  It would be great to see you find something you can enjoy helping us wtih.

Main CLLARE workgroups: Mission Planning, Navigation and Guidance. I do maths, physics, C, Python and Java.

Where's the best place to ask for input when editing the wiki pages?  For instance, in the text for the OHKLA Press Kit there's a section entitled "How fast will the rocket go and how long will the flight last", but only the first question is answered.

Or, if I'm going through the more technical/scientific explanations – where should I be double-checking my editing to ensure the original meaning hasn't been lost?

Welcome to the team, it is great to have you. Remember, it took literally millions of people to put two men on the moon in 1969, your skills are absolutely necessary, no matter what they are.

Most of the stuff in the wiki was originally hashed out in the forums so what we really should be doing is citing individual forum posts in the wiki.
If in doubt, the best way to go about this would be to ask the rest of the team on the forums. This way we can all focus some effort to make sure that it says what we want.

Welcome to the team! As others have commented, we definitely have need for that kind of skill set. I would like to echo Luke's suggestions about things that could use your help. If you have any questionor comments, feel free to post something. I understand that the huge mass of data on our forums and wiki could be intimidating or dificult to navigate for a new user, so if you have any dificulties, let us know. We're working on that issue.

I look forward to working with you.
