Greetings from California (and Reddit)! I'm a third year student working on a B.S. in Computer Science and Engineering and a B.S. in Mathematics. I'm planning on going into logic research, but space exploration is one of my biggest passions and I would love nothing more than to help out wherever I can in CSTART.

Most of my programming experience is in C, C++, and Java. I also have some familiarity with VHDL and I've worked with FPGAs in robotics competitions. I am highly interested in DSP-related fields, and I'm starting to familiarize myself with the software engineering process. I've been exposed to some CubeSAT knowledge from my university's current project. I'm still in the middle of my education, but I hope to apply anything as soon as I'm competent enough to make a contribution.

Technical aspects aside,  I used to be a web designer and I'm pretty big on tidiness and all-around aesthetics. I'd like to contribute in public relations if I could, and hopefully I'll be doing my own research on CSTART aspects that haven't been covered in my education, such as propulsion, communications, control, etc.

I feel a personal responsibility to make this fantasy into a reality, and I'm incredibly excited to participate in any way I can.

Hello, and welcome. It seems to me that you have a lot of passion and curiosity. I like that.

Currently, our tidiness is lacking. We had a meeting on the 12th/13th (depending on the timezone). One of the topics we were going to discuss was our current web structure. It is a bit outdated and our setup for the forums is a bit disorganized. It does work well for us, but it could be improved. We will focus on this issue at the next meeting. It will be on week 47 on the 19th/20th. These are bi-weekly meetings. If you are in California, it will be at 9pm on Friday. The reason for the time is because we have to consider those also living in Europe, India and Australia. I hope to see you join this meeting. The meetings take place on Freenode IRC at #cstart. You can find it on the get involved button at the top of this page.

I'm not sure how familiar you are with our current organizational setup. We will have a PR group, which would be great if you could help out here. We then have three programs. One program is setup for CubeSATs specifically. It is called Program COSMOS. A member by the name of antinode is leading this program. Hopefully the two of you can get in touch. Another program is called Program Chimera. I am leading this one. This program has an initial goal to design and build a rocket to pass the Karman line. Once this is accomplished, we will continue to do bigger and better. And the third program is called Program Cloudlab. This program is there to utilize high altitude weather balloons to test electronics. These things will then be used for Chimera and COSMOS. A member by the name of brmj is leading this Program.

We would love to have you contribute any way you can. Jump in to any discussion you have an interest in, or you can create your own on the forums. If you have any other questions, you can ask them here, or send me an email at [email protected].

If you're interested in helping out with COSMOS, the CubeSat program, we'll be having our first official IRC meeting on Monday, Nov 29, at 6PM PST. I hope to see you there as nobody else involved has any hands on CubeSat experience as of yet.
