I do not have rocket expertise. I believe this problem is shared by others. I propose we add a "Learn here" or "Education" forum in the community section.

There could be different subsections, one for rockets, one for computer science, one for life support systems, etc. Within these subsections we can post informative, descriptive links or post newb's guides ourselves. If it is structured like this then replies and questions can be fielded more simply and directly than forum posts in random sections.

Collecting self-education links in one place could really help us all be able to talk to each other on some similar level. I think it is essential to CSTART ever doing anything.

Cheers!

What do other community members think of this? If everyone is okay with it, I could make go ahead and create one.

I've since seen the wiki page for suggested reading and started adding links there. There isn't a good way to do Q and A in the wiki, though, so my idea for the forums still stands.

The current number of different forums is already pretty daunting, but I do agree we should have general forums for various topics. For the site restructure I'm proposing the project discussions get moved to their missions pages, and that these forums be used for basic CSTART discussion and basic science and engineering discussion. The project currently named the "Technical Report System" will eventually become the go to place for anything you'd want to learn about aerospace. The TRS and general forums would compliment each other. For the time being, I'd say add one general science discussion forum to not overcrowd the forums anymore.

The only possible negative that I can see is that it will make the forums somewhat more crowded, but in the scheme of things, learning should be a top priority.
