I got an email a couple of days ago from Sanjoy of the One Flag in Space project, pointing me in the direction of the Open Aerospace Organisation.  I've not had time yet to look at their site in detail, but they seem to be good candidates for the Friends of CSTART program.

Main CLLARE workgroups: Mission Planning, Navigation and Guidance. I do maths, physics, C, Python and Java.
