Following on from my recent discovery of ARCA, here is another group who are not open source but whom are doing interesting things in the field of low-cost, low-tech high-innovation space stuff: JP Aerospace, who call themselves "America's OTHER space program".  They seem to have a very strong focus on balloon-related activities, although they do rocketry too and are obviously quite interested in the cross over between the two, rockoons (rather like ARCA).  They even have a project geared at getting stuff into orbit using a combination of really large balloons and ion engines.  Very interesting stuff.

Main CLLARE workgroups: Mission Planning, Navigation and Guidance. I do maths, physics, C, Python and Java.
