Not really a kindred spirit org, but this seems like the best place to put this:

Harkopen is an open source hardware community.  They seem to function a little bit like SpaceHack, i.e. they run a user-generated directory of projects involving open source hardware.  Importantly, they have recently blogged about open source space projects, and there has been a little bit of back and forth between then and OLF via Twitter – see Harkopen twitter, OLF twitter.

This find combined with the email Rizwan recently sent out linking to the Open Maufacturing Network, has made me realise that there is a larger community around the open source hardware / manufacturing concept than I thought.  Perhaps it's time we started trying to foster better ties with these communities?  They could be a huge help to us.

Starting a new TA job next week, might be busy for a while! Main CLLARE workgroups: Mission Planning, Navigation and Guidance. I do maths, physics, C, Python and Java.

This is definitely a good sort of community to get involved in. I'm just a little active on the fringes of the open source hardware and maker communities, for what it's worth. I've played around with a system to turn plastic bags into feedstock for a reprap in the past, and I go to most meetings of the RIT Make club. This Friday, I mentioned CSTART at their meeting and several people seemed interested, so I wouldn't be suprised if this stuff goes over well with people like that in general.

Main work groups: Propulsion (booster), Spacecraft Engineering, Computer Systems, Navigation and Guidance (software)

Fair enough.  Does anybody have any objections to me commenting on their open source space project blog post and seeing what comes of it?

No, go ahead. I can't see anything bad that could come of it.

Alright, done (I also pointed them to Copenhagen Suborbitals and SpaceHack).  The comments are moderated before posting so you can't see it immediately, but hopefully it will turn up soon.
