There is an ongoing project at my university's engineering school aimed at building a balloon-launch microsatellite launch vehicle with a hybrid engine. I mentioned this back when the group was forming on Reddit, if I remember correctly, but it was looked at as largely irrelevant given the state of our design at the time. I was just recently reminded of them. Here's a link. Want me to get in touch with them? It might be useful for us to have them as a resource, especially given the fact that I canliterally show up and ask questions during breaks between classes.

Main work groups: Propulsion (booster), Spacecraft Engineering, Computer Systems, Navigation and Guidance (software)

Since they seem to have a lot of experience doing hybrid rocket test burns, I would say it would definitely be worth you contacting them.  Anyting you could learn about how they constructed their test rig (especially with regards to thrust measurements) would be awesome.

The only question is when it would be best to contact them.  To be honest, I think that both the website and the Wiki are making solid steps toward serious presentability.  We should be able to "lock in" final first versions of our defining documents in a day or two.  With this done would we feel sufficiently confident about how we look to start introducing ourselves to people (not just the RIT group but also Copenhagen Suborbitals, PSAS, etc?)

Main CLLARE workgroups: Mission Planning, Navigation and Guidance. I do maths, physics, C, Python and Java.
