That's just an email address, your browser is setup to use a client to email (outlook probably?) And since you dont use it, it wont work.

Just copy and paste it into your normal email (yahoo, gmail etc)

And cubesat's are pretty much what you said. Small "DIY" satilites that alot of Universities make as design projects, as well as scientific organizations.There is a pretty big demand to get them to space but the cost is huge (with NASA it's 10k+ USD…) There are other organizations trying to get that price down, but no one has made it cost effective.
