I know this isn't quite the right place for this, but I couldn't find a better one. Sorry.

Basically, it has come to my attention that RIT's engineering department frequently lets any students, faculty and staff who know what they are doing use a large fraction of their heavy equipment and tools. Some design drawings or a CAD file to show the guy supervising the workshop is also typically required.

I have rudimentary knowledge of how to use a lathe and a drill press. If I can get some of my friends who are better at such things to help, I can probably get arbitrary small parts for prototypes machined, though it ought to be understood that the quality may not be as good as we would get from a professional and the work would be done in spare time.

Having access to a shop will be huge for us. We will still need to pay for materials, but that is an incremental cost that can scale with the size of our projects.

It would also be a great way to introduce people to our projects.
